The head of the Tippecanoe County Highway Department is reducing her request for additional money to address a backlog of road projects.
Opal Kuhl says she is only asking for $1-million, down from the original request of $2-million.
She says the decrease is possible by putting off some work until next year.
Kuhl says the extra money would be taken from the Economic Development Income Tax and not out of the county’s General Fund as she originally requested.
The money will be used to replace two bridges and three large culverts, as well as work on ditches and sidewalks.
The County Council will consider the issue again next month.
