Incumbent Republican Jim Baird defeated Democrat Joe Mackey in the race for Indiana’s fourth congressional district, holding on to the seat he won in the 2018 midterm elections.

In a statement, Baird -- who served for eight years as an Indiana State Representative before winning the seat Todd Rokita vacated for a U.S Senate run -- said he planned to continue focusing on the expansion of rural broadband, assisting fellow veterans, and pushing for legislation to help constituents impacted by COVID-19.

“In the midst of partisanship, let us never forget we are all Americans that must unify for the good of our Nation,” Baird said.

With 90 percent of precincts reporting late Tuesday, Baird received 66 percent of the vote count to Mackey’s 34 percent.
