Chili Oil

Running out of ideas for a good Valentine's Day gift? Think a teddy bear or other stuffed animal is too childish? Don't have the money for a jewelry purchase? What about food?

Scott Hutcheson says he's turned to some tasty and sentimental dishes for his sweetheart.

Chili Oil

  • 1 cup extra virgin olive oil
  • 2 teaspoons red pepper flakes

Place oil and pepper flacks into a saucepan and heat to 185 degrees. Let cool to room temperature. Filter out the pepper flakes by pouring the oil through cheesecloth. Oil can be kept in an air-tight container and stored in the refrigerator for up to a month. Bring it to room temperature before using. You can use this anytime a recipe calls for olive oil and you want an extra kick.
