A bill that would create a state-funded preschool pilot program has advanced through the Indiana House.
Eligible students must be 4 years old with a family income of no more than 185% of the Federal Poverty Level.
The measure now moves on to the Senate, where a similar proposal failed last year.
But House Speaker Brian Bosma says he’s hopeful this measure will pass.
Indiana is currently one of ten states that do not offer state-funded preschool programs.
If signed into law, it would take effect in 2015.
