Rush takes oath of office for IN Supreme Court

Indiana Supreme Court

Tippecanoe County is without its long-time family court judge.

Loretta Rush was sworn in Wednesday morning as the fifth justice on the Indiana Supreme Court. The ceremony was private, but a public event is set for the end of December.

The Supreme Court has named retired Montgomery County Judge Thomas Milligan as a temporary replacement. The governor will appoint a permanent Superior Court Three judge.

Rush is the 108th person to serve on the court and just the second woman. She spent 14 years as Superior Court Three judge, handling family and juvenile matters. Before that, Rush was a lawyer for 15 years in Lafayette.

She graduated from Purdue University and received her law degree from Indiana University.
