NICHES 6th Annual 'War of the Weeds' volunteer garlic mustard removal effort is almost here! Between April 11th and May 11th, we will be hosting a series of garlic mustard pulling shifts at NICHES preserves within a 10–50 minute drive of Lafayette. This is our organization's single biggest annual volunteer push; if we can manage to fill every volunteer shift it will provide over a thousand volunteer hours during a critically important stewardship window. Please check out our shift dates/locations, sign-up by clicking the link below, and come share some time in nature helping protect the spectacular bloom of native spring ephemeral wildflowers our region is known for! All volunteers who register for 2 or more pulling shifts before the end of March will receive this year's 'War of the Weeds' Bandanna featuring garlic mustard ID tips. We need as many hands on deck as possible for this important and time dependent springtime task!
Check out our 2025 shift schedule and register to volunteer here:https://nicheslandtrust.org/war-of-the-weeds
