A sculpture from a local artist has a new home in West Lafayette.
Ben Sutter’s Point of Departure has been installed outside Greyhouse Coffee on the corner of Northwestern and State Streets.
Greyhouse owner Jason Tennenhouse helped the project along from its early stages. He says it represents the experience of many Purdue students.
"There's a point of departure represented as they go up the hill and cross in front of the coffee shop and go to campus. There's also a point of departure when you're graduating and you drive down that hill for the last time and you're off to another part of the world for your career."
The piece was created with metal from Oscar Winski Company, and was installed by students from Purdue’s Department of Construction and Engineering Management.
