West Lafayette Musicale 10/24 Preview

West Lafayette Musicale is collaborating with Dr. Jean Peterson, Professor Emerita, Purdue University, to provide a special workshop focused on stressors associated with performance. WBAA Music Director John Clare spoke with Dr. Peterson about the event.

The workshop is Monday, October 24, at 7 pm, in  Our Savior Lutheran Church (300 W. Fowler Avenue, West Lafayette).  The event doesn't require tickets, but interested youth and audience members are asked to register by calling 463-2110.  The young musicians will not perform at the workshop.

Coming Up

On Thursday, October 27, West Lafayette Musicale will sponsor the Junior Musicale Competition at First Christian Church, Lafayette, grades 1-12, both singers and instrumentalists plus piano duets.  

On Saturday, November 12, Covenant Church WL, the annual Ruth Jamieson Piano Competition, also sponsored by Musicale, will take place for advanced high school pianists, both solos and duets.

John Nasukaluk Clare is comfortable behind a microphone, streaming video or playing violin. A former broadcaster for NPR, John has previously worked with Voice of America, the Canadian Broadcast Corporation and stations in Texas, Kansas, Nevada, California, and Pennsylvania. In 2005, Clare earned the Deems Taylor Award from ASCAP for radio broadcasting, citing his work on 20/20 Hearing. Having performed with famed tenors Luciano Pavarotti and Andrea Bocelli, John has worked with the Mozart Festival Texas, Mid Texas Symphony, Nevada Chamber Symphony, Shreveport Symphony, Abilene Philharmonic and Wichita Symphony Orchestra.
