West Lafayette Mayor John Dennis is in a unique position to comment on an increasingly chippy Tippecanoe County sheriff’s race. He’s served on a police force with incumbent Barry Richard and is currently the boss of Richard’s leading challenger, Jason Dombkowski.

So this week on WBAA’s Ask The Mayor, we get Mayor Dennis’ take on the race to be the county’s top cop – and whether it jibes with a push in recent years to make policing more approachable.

Also on this week’s show, West Lafayette is getting a Target store. It’s no Trader Joe’s, but plenty of people are excited about it – until they learn it’s in yet another building owned by the small group of people who seem to be building everything along State Street.

If the city doesn’t diversify ownership more, doesn’t it risk handing over its most valuable real estate – and the bargaining power that comes with it – to an unelected cartel?
