The Tippecanoe County Health Department issued an order for county residents to cancel or postpone community events through June 30.

In a health officer’s order dated April 8, Tippecanoe County Health Officer Dr. Jeremy Adler decreed that gatherings including, but not limited to, “festivals, fairs, carnivals, camps, and sporting events” should be deferred.

In a statement issued Tuesday, the health department said the guidelines applied to those organizing events involving 10 people or more.

“Due to the amount of planning, entering of contracts etc. for such gatherings, conversations should be taking place on what other options are available,” it said.

The department will alter the local order to align with any cancellation of Indiana Gov. Eric Holcomb’s statewide “Stay-At-Home” order.
