The Montgomery County Health Department announced Sunday 14 residents of a long-term care facility in Crawfordsville have tested positive for COVID-19, bringing the county’s confirmed novel coronavirus case total to 47.

In a statement, the department said 26 residents at Ben Hur Health and Rehabilitation were tested Friday after “multiple fevers” were detected on Thursday. Residents with confirmed cases have been placed in isolation, and family members have been notified.

The facility is part of the Indiana-based American Senior Communities network, with locations around the state. According to the company’s website, visitors had been restricted and employees were being screened for COVID-19 symptoms before starting the work day.

Indiana’s State Health Commissioner Dr. Kris Box last week said the state would not be releasing more detailed COVID-19 case data for long-term care facilities.

The Indiana State Department of Health reported 15,012 statewide novel coronavirus cases and 813 deaths in their daily update Sunday.
