A group at Purdue is urging the Board of Trustees to reconsider its appointment of Mitch Daniels as president.
The Society for an Open, Accountable Purdue, or SOAP, is pushing to stop the governor from taking over as the university’s 12th president in January.
Graduate student Josh Iddings says he is concerned with Daniels’ record on education.
SOAP held a protest rally at Stewart Center Friday afternoon and is planning another one September 10th when Daniels is scheduled to be on campus.
Organizer Tihthi Bahattacharya hopes the rally will encourage the Board of Trustees to reconsider hiring the governor.
Two weeks ago, Daniels said he’s heard positive feedback from people across the state about his appointment. He made the comments after speaking to Purdue’s freshmen prior to the start of classes.
