City Bus staff undergoing change

Lafayette’s transit service is losing more than 40-years of experience.

Control Arnie Becker and Development Manager John Metzinger are leaving the organization.

Becker is retiring after 31 years.

Metzinger is moving on to take over as director of public transportation at a city in Illinois.  He is not disclosing the exact location until next week.

He says he is proud of City Bus’ growth during his tenure with ridership increasing 175-percent.

Metzinger says he is particularly encouraged with how public transportation continues to grow in popularity locally and how it’s opened up new opportunities for residents and businesses.

He has worked with the transit service since 2001.

City Bus is holding an open house reception for the two men from 3 p.m. to 5 p.m. Thursday at the City Bus board room on Canal Road in Lafayette.
