A Kankakee Valley Middle School student made it through the first three rounds of the Scripps National Spelling Bee.
Casey Hennings correctly spelled “phosphorous” and “visceral” correctly, Wednesday.
But, the 13-year-old did not earn enough points on a written test to advance to today’s semifinals.
Hennings won the Lafayette Journal and Courier sponsored regional bee in February for the second consecutive year.
