Campbell picked to lead Leadership Lafayette

A former executive director of the Lafayette Symphony Orchestra is taking on the same role with another local organization.

Kitty Campbell is set to become the fourth Executive Director in Leadership Lafayette’s history and first in nearly a quarter century.

She was picked to replace Christy Smith who is retiring after 23-years.

Campbell says she hopes to build on the foundation that her predecessor set.

She currently serves as an educator at Purdue and Ivy Tech and will continue to work with both institutions.

Campbell expects to use her previous experience to guide her in her new role with Leadership Lafayette.

Leadership Lafayette is a class made up of about 40 community members through an application process.

They meet once a week from August through May with the goal of working to improve the area through projects and initiatives.

Campbell says she is excited to work with Next Generation Consulting on sharing ideas.

Next Generation is currently putting together a community needs report that is expected to come out in the next two months.
