Roundabouts planned for Lafayette

Pedestrian and traffic concerns may lead to two new roundabouts in Lafayette.

Planning is underway for projects at Twyckenham Boulevard and Old Romney Road, and Twyckenham and Poland Hill Road.

Transportation Engineer Carly Sheets says one reason for the roundabouts is making the area safer for pedestrians.

Currently, both intersections are four way stops.

Sheets says the cost is not yet known.

Phase one, which is the roundabout at Twyckenham and Poland Hill Road, is expected to start construction in the spring.

The other one at Twyckenham and Old Romney Road is scheduled for next summer.
