WFYI engineering is replacing WBAA-FM transmitter equipment this week, and this will result in occasional outages.

On Tuesday and Wednesday the Jazz programming may not be available over the air on WBAA-FM.

You can still listen to WBAA News, Classical and Jazz online and with the WBAA app. Thank you for your patience as we make these essential upgrades.

LUM celebrates 40 year anniversary

An area non-profit is celebrating four decades of service to the community.

Lafayette Urban Ministry, which is made-up of 42 churches, puts on more than two dozen programs each year aimed at serving family and children in need.

Director Joe Micon says this support helps not only these families, but the whole community.

“I think that's probably been the hallmark of Lafayette Urban Ministry over the past 40 years is that it's been this innovative place where people of good will get together to share their talents, to share their dollars, and the net result has been we have been a stronger community.”

To commemorate LUM’s 40th anniversary, the organization is launching a number of social media sites, including on Facebook, Twitter, and a YouTube channel.

Micon say the goal is to better communicate the group’s mission to the public.
