New WIC clinic coming to Purdue West

The local Women Infants and Children program will be opening a new clinic near the Purdue campus soon.

A previous site in the Purdue Village Administration building closed down in September after the university decided to reallocate the space.

Tippecanoe County commissioners this morning approved an agreement for WIC to lease space in the Purdue West Shopping Center from the Purdue Research Foundation.

Grant money will cover the monthly rent of nearly $1,400, and the cost of renovating the space.

WIC provides nutrition education, nutritious foods, and breastfeeding support for low-income pregnant women, new mothers, and their children.

The agency currently operates a clinic on Tippecanoe Street in Lafayette.
