Officials at Ivy Tech-Lafayette are celebrating the dedication of the Bane Agriculture Technology Center.
A $250,000 gift from Bane Equipment is allowing the community college to renovate an existing structure to make it a hands-on learning lab for students.
Company owner Phillip Bane says it’s important to provide real-world experiences, since the field of agriculture technology is always changing.
The agriculture program at Ivy Tech-Lafayette began six years ago.
There are currently 200 students enrolled.
About 60% of those will transfer to a four-year institution to pursue a degree.
The remaining 40% will enter the workforce after earning an Associate of Applied Science degree.
