Habitat for Humanity of Lafayette changing direction

Habitat for Humanity of Lafayette has been helping community members build their own homes in the area for nearly 30 years. Executive Director Doug Taylor says the organization will continue to do that, but with a larger focus.

Taylor says the local chapter wants to help build neighborhoods. It's a trend that's happening nationwide with other Habitat chapters. He says the current focus is on the Wabash Neighborhood in Lafayette, just south of downtown.

Habitat for Humanity of Lafayette is having two major fundraisers over the next few weeks. It hosting a benefit concert featuring Tonic Sol-fa at the Long Center. It's Thursday, Sept. 19 at 7 p.m.

The other is the annual Bucket 100 bicycle ride, now in its 8th year. Bikers ride from West Lafayette to Bloomington, IN. There's an overnight stop in Danville. The Bucket 100 is Oct. 19 and 20.
