County contributes $500K to coworking studio project

The City of Lafayette and its partners on a new coworking space downtown are getting additional help from Tippecanoe County.

Commissioners have approved contributing $500,000 toward the renovation of the MatchBOX Coworking Studio site on South Sixth Street downtown, and an additional $10,000 a year for operations funding.

MatchBOX operations manager Ashley Scott says the support indicates the effort is on the right track.

Lafayette Urban Enterprise Association and Greater Lafayette Commerce are also working with the city on the project.

The goal of the non-profit venture is to bring together entrepreneurs with creative ideas who can support each other’s efforts.

Scott says plans are to open in early Spring.
