Purdue privatizing printing services

Purdue is privatizing its on-campus printing services.

The university has entered into a five-year agreement with Xerox, which starts Monday.

Officials say the change will reduce costs, improve productivity and enhance services.

The 16 Purdue employees in the printing services division have accepted positions with Xerox.

The decision was made after a campus-wide review of printing services.

An effort to streamline the division last year included laying off about 70% of the staff and closing three satellite printing centers on campus.

But the review indicated that was not enough to bring revenue in line with expenses.
