West Lafayette Delays Waste Water Treatment Utility Project

The West Lafayette Waste Water Treatment Utility is putting off a project after the sole bid came in over-budget.

Director Dave Henderson says the engineers estimate to replace two lift stations was about $2.1 million, but the cost submitted by Atlas Excavating was a little more than $2.7 million.

He says they will look for ways to reduce the price tag and put the project out to bid again later this year.

Henderson says the Sheraton and Fairway Knolls lift stations were built in 1963 and 1974, respectively, so he doesn’t want to wait too long to replace them.

Work includes installing on-site generators and high efficiency pumps.
