WBAA Wins Regional Edward R. Murrow Award

RTDNA

WBAA, Public Radio from Purdue, has won a 2015 Edward R. Murrow Award.

Winners of the awards, presented by the Radio Television Digital News Association, or RTDNA, were announced Thursday.

The winning entry, “Purdue Block Party,” aired on WBAA November 18, 2014. The story was written and produced by Kristin Malavenda.

WBAA's Murrow entries were judged against stories produced by radio stations in Indiana, Illinois, Michigan and Ohio.

"We're very proud to have earned what’s believed to be the first ever Murrow award in WBAA’s long history," News Director Stan Jastrzebski says. "Our goal every day is to provide listeners with diligent and responsible top-level broadcast journalism."

WBAA General Manager Mike Savage congratulated the newsroom. "This award demonstrates the high quality journalism that comes out of our newsroom daily," Savage says. "We are very proud of our newsroom and the excellence in our news reporting."

WBAA and other regional award winners will move on to compete for national recognition at RTDNA's annual awards banquet Oct. 12, 2015 in New York City.
