Tippecanoe County health officer position open

Tippecanoe County is looking for a new health officer. Doctor Michael Bohlin has served as the county’s health officer for eight-years.

He told Health Department administrator Ron Cripe in early February that he intended to step down when a replacement is hired. Cripe says Bohlin cited personal and professional obligations as the reason to leave after eight-years on the job.

The seven-member board of health is meeting Wednesday to interview candidates and discuss hiring someone for the position. Cripe says they could appoint someone after their executive session.

The purpose of the job is to be an advocate for public health and support the county’s programs.

Bohlin specializes in internal medicine and is a hospitalist with Franciscan Saint Elizabeth Health in Lafayette.
