The Tippecanoe County Health Department announced Friday the first death from COVID-19 in the county.
The resident was one of eight confirmed cases reported by the health department since March 18. The department said the patient was a male over the age of 60, and had been hospitalized at IU Health Arnett.
The health department said they made the announcement “with deep sorrow.”
As of Friday morning, the Indiana State Department of Health had reported 981 positive statewide cases and 24 deaths.
