The 12th-ranked Purdue men's basketball team protected home court against Penn State Saturday, winning 76-64. The Boilermakers, however, did not protect the basketball very well.
Purdue averages just ten turnovers per game, but when the game's final buzzer sounded, they had a total of 23 -- a season high. Those turned into 17 points on the other end for one of the conference's worst teams.
Penn State, however, lived up to its standing, turning the ball over 16 times, which resulted in 24 points at thier defensive bucket. They were led by Lamar Stevens who had 18 points and six rebounds.
Carsen Edwards struggled with foul trouble throughout the game, but finished with 21 points and led the team with 7 turnovers. Center Matt Haarms returned to the starting lineup, replacing Trevion Williams. He scored 18 points and grabbed six rebounds.
Purdue travels south to Bloomington Tuesday to play Indiana, which lost to Minnesota Saturday, 84-63. Indiana has lost eight of its last nine, while Purdue sits in second place in the Big Ten.
