Purdue Men Roll Over Jacksonville State

Casey Abbett

The Purdue Men's basketball team feasted in its last home game before Thanksgiving Saturday, cruising to a 74-40 victory.

Purdue used a 20-8 run from the opening tip to take a commanding lead that they never relinquished. The Boilers had a stellar night shooting the basketball, especially in the first half, when they hit nearly 70 percent of their shots. While they did wobble through a scoring drought in the game's closing minutes, they still shot 55 percent on the night.

Their defense stifled Jacksonville, allowing the visitors to make less than a third of their shots. Boiler defenders also swatted away seven shot attempts and had none of theirs blocked on the other end.

Matt Haarms led all scorers, posting with a double-double with 17 points and 10 rebounds, as well as accounting for five of the blocks. Jahaad Proctor chipped in 14 points of his own. Eight Purdue players scored at least six points and the team dished out 23 assists.

The Boilermakers are off until Friday when they play #21 VCU in Mackey Arena, before hosting #7 Virginia in the ACC-Big Ten Challenge.
