Lucy Dacus Doesn't Want To Be Funny Anymore

Lucy Dacus is one of my very favorite new artists. Her mix of Southern soul and power-pop is winning and lovable. And then there's her voice, a beautiful, deep, resonant sound that works well when her songs rock and when they're intimate and thoughtful. This video presents a favorite song from her 2016 album No Burden — it's called "I Don't Want to Be Funny Anymore." It comes out on the day Matador Records announced that she's joined their roster. I'm excited for her future, take a listen to find out why.

In 1988, a determined Bob Boilen started showing up on NPR's doorstep every day, looking for a way to contribute his skills in music and broadcasting to the network. His persistence paid off, and within a few weeks he was hired, on a temporary basis, to work for All Things Considered. Less than a year later, Boilen was directing the show and continued to do so for the next 18 years.
