The faster Indiana can transition from coal to renewable energy sources, the better for Indiana customers. That’s the takeaway from a new report prepared for the 21st Century Energy Policy Development Task Force charged with creating a statewide energy plan. 

Electric city buses and school buses are just some of vehicles the state will help buy with money from the Volkswagen settlement. Indiana received more than $40 million to reduce the state’s diesel emissions after the company violated the Clean Air Act.

Republicans in a House committee this week voted to largely halt new power plants in Indiana for the next two years.

The moratorium’s architect says he wants to ensure the state’s energy future is balanced.
