Chancel Players present Pilgrim’s Progress in October. For over 40 years, Chancel Players of Lafayettehave produced thought provoking plays with moral and ethical focus from the Judeo-Christian perspective. Relying on good scripts, acting and directing, they often require little staging, and use of minimal settings/costumes. WBAA’s John Clare spoke with board member Ralph Rohrer about the group and their season.
The shows take place October 19, 20, 26, and 27 at Immanuel Reformed Presbyterian Church. The first three performances are at 7:30 pm and the last show is at 2:30pm. More information here.
John Bunyan's classic allegory tells the tale of one man's journey from the City of Destruction to the Celestial City. The story, originally written in 1678, is highly regarded in all of English literature. Playwright Tom Key has kept the spirit of John Bunyan's original story while adapting it for modern audiences to enjoy.
Ralph Vaughan Williams based his Fifth Symphony on The Pilgrim's Progress, and would later complete his opera of the same story.
