Purdue Athletics extends Hopes contract

Danny Hope will be on the sidelines for Purdue a few more years.

The university extended his contract as head football coach 2 years, through December, 2016. Hope has been in the post for 3 years and served 1 year as associate head coach prior to that, under Joe Tiller.

Athletics Director Morgan Burke says details are still be finalized, but cites "many important steps" the football program has taken "in the pursuit of developing champions, scholars and citizens."

Purdue is in postseason play for the first time in 4 years. The Boilermakers face Western Michigan in the Little Caesars Pizza Bowl in Detroit Tuesday, Dec. 27th.

Hope says developing a strong program takes perseverance and a willingness to critically address all aspects of the program, so plans can be updated or changed.  He says he and Burke have started the process and will continue to look at how to "accelerate" improvement.

Burke says the Athletics Department is looking at new football marketing options, including how to bolster the fan experience leading up to game day and enhancing ticketing technology for fans who have different needs and wants.
