Mural to go up soon in WL alley

The West Lafayette Public Arts Team has chosen an artist to transform the former Gumball Alley.

Chairperson Craig Martin says both sides of what is now known as the Chauncey Village Walkway will soon be covered with two murals.

The paintings, titled “Delight of Accomplishment” will be done by Indiana artist Tom Torluemke.

Martin says the murals are filled with colorful designs and geometric shapes, and reflect both the agrarian roots of West Lafayette as well as achievements of modern life.

Painting is set to begin September 17th and take up to three weeks to complete.

The nearly $27,000 project is being funded by the city’s Redevelopment Commission.
