Ask The Mayor: Lafayette's Tony Roswarski On Climate Change, Housing Equilibrium

WBAA News

The City of Lafayette is following the lead of its western neighbor by beginning work on a climate change resolution. It’s a drafting process that could take most of 2020 to complete, but then what happens? The same challenges exist in both cities, chief among them: how to enforce something that’s non-binding and (if it’s to have any teeth at all), asks for some slightly audacious things?

We put that question to Lafayette Mayor Tony Roswarski this week on WBAA’s Ask The Mayor.

Also on this week’s show, a listener has been watching high-priced apartments and condominiums go up in downtown Lafayette and wants to know how the city will balance the needs – and, more to the point, the price ranges – of both young professionals and retirees. Is it just driven by market forces, or can the city exert some price control?
