A 20 year relationship between Tippecanoe County and Wildcat Creek Solid Waste District appears to be nearing an end.

Tippecanoe County Commissioners gave a preliminary vote to disband from the organization, which currently handles hazardous waste disposal and is in partnership with Clinton County.

Tippecanoe officials are considering a deal with Southside Landfill out of Knightstown, IN, to take care of the service for $4,000 a month.

Wildcast district officials requested the county help pay for a new storage facility, but members of the county council say it costs more than what is budgeted and the money is not available.

Southside Landfill already handles hazardous waste disposal for the Johnson County Solid Waste District, the city of Muncie, and Ball State University.

Tippecanoe County Commissioners are expected to take a final vote on cutting ties with Wildcat Creek S.W.D. sometime in December.
