Join WBAA and WFYI for a special pre-screening of the brand-new PBS Kids show Phoebe & Jay on January 20 from 1:30 p.m. to 2:30 p.m. at West Lafayette Public Library. Premiering February 2, the show follows the adventures of 6-year-old fraternal twins Phoebe and Jay Yarber, who live with their family in the fantastical Tobsy Towers.
Phoebe & Jay showcases the various kinds of texts kids see in their everyday lives − from signs and posters to labels and movie tickets, helping them understand, navigate and participate in the world around them. Aimed at children 3 to 5 years old, attendees will enjoy a look at the first episode of the new show and will complete activities that complement the series.
The screening is free to attend, no pre-registration necessary.

The Lafayette Dulcimer Gathering will play at Cumberland Park every Tuesday evening from 7pm to 8:30pm in June, July and August All acoustic instrument musicians are welcome to join the jam and play along or, just bring a lawn chair and enjoy the music! Song sheets will be available.

Indianapolis-based saxophonist Rob Dixon has enjoyed the varied routine of a successful jazz musician, teaching courses at IUPUI (urban research center, offering degrees from both Indiana and Purdue universities) and area high schools, playing with his band Trilogy at the Chatterbox and Mousetrap, making frequent recording sessions as a sought-after sideman. An Indianapolis Jazz Hall of Fame Inductee, Dixon has also booked other musicians as well as contributing insights and influence on the local scene from his purview as Artistic Director of Indy Jazz Fest, Naptown’s most culturally significant jazz occasion.Rob has collaborated, performed and recorded with numerous national and Indianapolis based groups including Illinois Jacquet, Rufus Reid, Composer Bill Lee, The Count Basie Orchestra, Weldon Irving, Ali Shaheed Muhammad of tribe called quest, The Cleveland Heritage Jazz Orchestra, Drummer Mike Clark, The Headhunters, Cyn Layne, Melvin Rhyne, Charlie Hunter, The Smithsonian Masterworks Jazz Orchestra, Composer and Pianist Steve Allee, Guitarist Dave Stryker and the Buselli Wallarab Jazz Orchestra.
