The WBAA Classical 101.3 and WBAA News 105.9 tower will be undergoing major work starting on March 7th to enhance and strengthen the tower. The work is expected to continue until approximately March 30th. Most of the work will be done while the stations are at full power, but there will be times where we will need to reduce power or be off the air so that crews can work safely. We thank you for your patience while this work is completed. You can still listen to WBAA Classical and WBAA News online or via the WBAA mobile app.

A Tippecanoe County resident has the county’s first presumptive positive case of COVID-19.

Tippecanoe County Health Officer Dr. Jeremy Adler said Wednesday the resident became symptomatic and was tested while in Florida, and remains at a hospital there in stable condition.

He said the patient was in Florida for four days before showing any symptoms.

“The incubation period for COVID-19 is considered to be anywhere between two and 14 days,” Adler said.

Adler would not release any other personal information about the individual, citing privacy laws. He said the health department would identify the patient’s close contacts so they could be monitored for illness.

“I ask anyone who thinks they might have symptoms to call a health care provider so they can be evaluated by phone before going to a medical facility,” Adler said.

Adler said the Tippecanoe County Health Department was working with both the Indiana State Department of Health and the Orange County (Florida) Health Department, as well as the local hospital where the resident is being treated.

As of Wednesday afternoon, data provided by the Florida State Department of Health showed 25 non-Florida residents have tested positive for COVID-19 and been isolated in the state.
