LSC plans for roofing projects

The Lafayette School Corporation Board accepted bids for various roofing projects.

Works is scheduled for this summer at four elementary schools – Earhart, Vinton, Glen Acres, and Miller – and Jefferson High School.

Chief Financial Officer Eric Rody says these roofs are some of the most pressing needs in the district.

Two-million-dollars of the work will be paid for through General Obligation bonds and about $226,000 will come from the capital projects fund.

Rody says the interest rate on the bonds is about half of what it was a year ago.

The district also wanted to do work on Sunnyside Middle School, but the finances weren’t in place. Rody expects repairs on the roof there to be put in the next funding cycle.
