IPFW chancellor to be named Tuesday morning

Purdue is naming a new chancellor for the Indiana University-Purdue University Fort Wayne campus.

The announcement is scheduled for 10:30 a.m. Tuesday in Fort Wayne.

The search to replace current Chancellor Michael Wartell began last fall.

Wartell has led the campus since 1994 and was hoping to stay on two years more. However, the Purdue Board of Trustees did not grant an extension past the mandatory retirement age of 65.

Trustees are expected to approve the new chancellor’s appointment next month.

IPFW is the fifth largest university in the state and largest in northeast Indiana. It has an enrollment of more than 14,000 students.
