A Hoosier congresswoman introduced New Jersey Governor Chris Christie as he made an 11th-hour case to Iowa voters on the eve of that state’s first-in-the-nation caucus.
Susan Brooks (R-5th) introduced praised Christie’s work as a federal prosecutor as she introduced him to the crowd.
“He’s been a pro-life conservative forever and he’s been re-elected, not just in New Jersey – a very blue state – but he was reelected with wide margins,” Brooks says. “But he also is a fiscal conservative – he’s vetoed more tax increases than probably any governor in the country.”
Brooks believes Christie’s law enforcement background makes him the best choice to be the nation’s next commander in chief.
“I think of all of the candidates, the most expert on national security – which is the top issue on voters’ minds – he will know how to keep this country safe,” she says. “He will help lead the country back to a much more respected place in the world than I think we currently are.”
