Food Finders offers kids free lunch for the summer

Area students who qualify for free and reduce lunch won’t have to go hungry now that classes are over.

Food Finders Food Bank is hosting a summer meal distribution program at 38 sites in the nine counties it serves.

That includes five locations in Tippecanoe County.  They will serve any kid between the ages of two and 18.

Officials say nearly a quarter of all children in the county are food insecure and the effort is a way to ensure they are getting a nutritious meal daily.

Some students will even get extra food.

A 50-thousand-dollar grant from ConAgra Foods will pay for these kids to take some home, which officials say is particularly important during the weekends when the sites aren’t operating.

You can find locations and times for the distribution sites here.
