A case of whooping cough has been confirmed in the Tippecanoe School Corporation.
A letter to parents of students in Battle Ground Middle School says exposure to some children and staff may have occurred in the classroom or on the school bus.
TSC officials are encouraging students or staff with signs of whooping cough to see a doctor immediately.
They say the first symptoms are similar to the common cold.
But within a couple of weeks coughing fits followed by vomiting or trouble catching your breath may occur.
BGMS students with signs of whooping cough will be sent home and not allowed back to school until they have seen a doctor.
