Eleven nonprofits are splitting more than $105,000 in grants from the Community Foundation of Greater Lafayette.
Eight organizations received discretionary grants. The requests were for funding of $7,500 - $14,999. They are:
- Almost Home Humane Society, $13,981, for an industrial washing machine and dryer
- Home with Hope, $7,965 for security cameras and a monitoring system
- Jessie’s Kids Foundation, $10,737 for basketball court renovation at Cary Home
- Right Steps Child Development Centers, $13,565 for carpeting at its downtown site
- Big Brothers Big Sisters of Greater Lafayette, $11,472 for computers or computer upgrades
- Family Services, $14,999 for computers or computer upgrades
- Lafayette Adult Resource Academy, $14,999 to equip its new assessment and testing center
- YWCA of Greater Lafayette, $9,475 for computers or computer upgrades
Three field-of-interest grants, or those funded by donors who designate support for specific funding requests, went to:
- Lafayette Tree Fund, $3,500 from the Virginia B. Huth Fund to purchase new trees for vacant street tree sites
- Children’s Music Foundation received $2,500 in music education funds for youth scholarships from the Louisa Lee France Endowment Fund
- Wabash Valley Youth Symphony received $2,500 in music education funds for youth scholarships from the Louisa Lee France Endowment Fund.
The Foundation awards grants several times a year. The next application deadline is noon, December 3, for Tier 3 grants of less than $7,500. During fiscal year 2012, The Foundation awarded $768,800 in grants to 84 nonprofits.
