Greater Lafayette preparing for annual holiday events

Greater Lafayette Commerce is looking for people to participate in the annual Dickens of a Christmas celebration.

Program coordinator Erin Nelson says the event transforms downtown Lafayette into a Victorian English town.

She says in addition to reenacting scenes from Charles Dickens’ “A Christmas Carol,” there will be a special Farmers Market, craft demonstrations, and performances by choirs and musical acts.

Dickens of a Christmas is set for Saturday, December 7th.

Also that weekend is the annual Christmas parade.

Nelson says the theme this year is “Over the River and Through the Woods” featuring State Representative Sheila Klinker as Grand Marshal.

The parade takes place Sunday, December 8th, and includes emergency vehicles, community groups, marching bands, floats, and animal entries.
