Not guilty plea entered, bond denied for Purdue murder suspect

The suspect in the death of a Purdue student Tuesday has entered a plea of not guilty.

Cody Cousins made his initial court appearance yesterday in a courtroom at the Tippecanoe County Jail, where he is being held without bond.

He is being charged with murder in the death of Andrew Boldt.

According to a probable cause affidavit filed in Tippecanoe Superior Court 2, Cousins entered the Electrical Engineering building around noon Tuesday, found Boldt in a basement classroom, and proceeded to shoot and stab him.

Cousins was taken into custody within minutes outside the Northwestern Avenue entrance to the building.

Police later located a handgun, several shell casings, and a knife near Boldt’s body on the floor of the classroom where the attack occurred.

The probable cause affidavit does not give any information as to the motive for the murder.
