Purdue has selected a new provost.
Debasish Dutta is currently associate provost and dean of the graduate college at the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign.
He will start at Purdue July 1st.
Dutta earned a PhD in Industrial Engineering from Purdue in 1989.
He will succeed Tim Sands, who is leaving Purdue to become president of Virginia Tech University.
