The Purdue Muslim Student Association released a statement about the Orlando, Florida mass shooting at a gay night club where a gunman killed at least 49 people.

The release states:

“The Purdue University Muslim Student Association offers our deepest condolences for the victims of the tragedy in Orland. Our thoughts and prayers are with the victims’ families during this difficult time.

All of us feel the pain grief and anger as a result of this horrific act against humanity. An attack on any minority group is an attack on all of us. The Muslim community, here at Purdue and across the nation, stands with the LGBTQ community against hate crimes and systemic injustice. Such actions go against what we believe in as Muslims and as Americans.”

The group also commends the response of the Muslim community in Florida, which has been donating blood in response to a request for donations to help the shooting victims who remain hospitalized.
