Indiana State Police say a Tippecanoe County woman has died in a Benton County home where some 140 snakes were present.

An autopsy will be performed Friday morning on the body of Battle Ground resident Laura Hurst, 36, whom police say was found with an eight-foot-long reticulated python wrapped around her neck.

State Police say about 20 of the 140 snakes belonged to Hurst, who visited the house – which sits in a residential neighborhood in the small town of Oxford – about twice a week.

Benton County Coroner Matt Rosenbarger says the autopsy will be performed in Tippecanoe County Friday morning, with preliminary results available around midday.
