Tippecanoe County officials are reminding residents that the ban on open fires remains in place.
Commissioners say after consulting with Emergency Management Agency officials, it looks like the ban could last until the end of September.
Individuals violating the mandatory burn ban can receive a citation from local law enforcement.
The charges could increase to felonies if the violation leads to structure damage or worse.
The burn ban has been in place since June 18th.
