Indiana University Health Expands Hospital Visitor Restrictions

Indiana University Health will no longer allow hospital visitors beginning Sunday, March 15.

According to a statement released Saturday, the ban is temporarily in place as a measure to protect patients from the spread of COVID-19. Exceptions for one visitor will be weighed for several departments, including pediatrics and outpatient surgery. Two visitors will be allowed in “end of life” situations.

One visitor will also be allowed to accompany a patient when they’re admitted to the hospital--but only at admission.

The stricter rules follow a set of visitor restrictions released earlier this week for area IU Health hospitals.

The Indiana State Department of Health announced three additional casesof the new coronavirus Saturday, bringing the confirmed statewide total to 15.
